Feedback during game load

Right now, my laptop takes 1-3 minutes to load the game. I am fine with this, but REALLY wish there was some type of progress bar or feedback. Sometimes, I think the game has locked up as there is no auto/video feedback during most of the loading time. (Yes, it does play music for the first 15 seconds, and gives loading text about the aurora/cyclops for the next 15 seconds, but after this - nothing).
P.S. I should mention that during this time I do see the ship crashing image, but no movement.
