[Linux] Most characters are missing from the menu/game (different issue, found a solution!)

Tried playing the game on Linux and most characters were missing. Tried a bunch of things like reseting the configuration files, deleting lua files and issuing steam integrity check, and changing environment variables for locale settings to no avail.
Since a few things were clearly readable, like "Options" and terms like "SSD", "CPU", I finally wondered why an unknown option was set to "Korean". Changed it to Englishm clicked the empty apply button (bottom right) and bang, all missing characters were back. I guess it's a unicode characters issue?
Anyway, I have no Idea why the game was setting my language to Korean by default, even more so when I supposedly had wiped all the configuration multiple times. I hope this help someone with a similar problem that could not be solved with instructions by other posts.
