Doors appear open from certain distances.

This routinely bothers me. I like to spot towards maintenance on summit, because if the door is open that often indicates that a skulk is in the vent between maintenance and crossroads. However, lately the door appears open even though nothing's there.

hehe that part of the map is the least travelled, very interesting spot for a PG or Gorge bunker
It's a max draw distance issue, it pops in and out if you move too far away
My guess is, player models would also not render right (max draw distance 45m, interactive entities)?
Marine in south tunnels, alien in north & look through hub.

I don't know - but I have not always had the issue - in spite of what @Lamb just said. Unless I've just happened to be in the exact range where it works idk.

Now that you mention it, I vaguely remember way back and I do mean WAAAAAY back, I noticed this when I was still trying to work on maps (map areas mostly, that blasted texture editor makes me so mad compared to Hammer )
We now do have a max render distance entity, so it could be fixed, from memory that would be Hub/Cave/Crossroads/Landing Pad/Courtyard and most likely more with a distance beyond 45m

Like for instance i thought this was known which is why i never reported it, view distance is buggered atleast it is on maps like tram, you can see the door disappear, players disappear when you're in south tunnels looking up to north, happens at random times. Even on refinery. Happens more often then not in big games, i thought it was a feature at this point (draw distance of models is the issue i suppose?)
I seriously thought this was a known issue with the talk of occlusion problems recently(lol) what's more interesting i've found is that when you're withen the bounds of the actual map you don't have a huge draw distance) but if i get out of the map i can see someone flying into the distance miles away, is that even possible?
edit:Archie talking about it a week or two ago on Australian servers and had people saying "what that's not possible, nah that doesn't happen" oh looky here what we have now.
