"singing" flora

I'd like to see a biome where one or more of the plant species communicate with each other by "singing" to each other. The "singing" of a particular plant would be a single pitch (possibly with some type of vibrato or ebb-and-flow). Multiple plants, or species, could emit different pitches, effectively creating a harmonious chord that is pleasing/calming to the player.
If the player were to get too close to one of the plants, it might change its pitch (in apprehension), and even start "yelling" when attacked. This might cause some of the other nearby plants to also start changing their pitch.
For bonus points, have a biome-specific predator that, while docile normally, would be attracted to defend the yelling plants (and even emit a similar sound to indicate to the player why they have become hostile).
P.S. The biome could be either underwater or on one of the above-water islands.
