Fun Tactic Against Idiot Commanders

<div class="IPBDescription">Offensive uses for the gorge</div> Gorges are the builders. Gorges are non combatants. Gorges are trap layers. Sure, but have you ever tried using a gorge as an offensive weapon before the second hive is even built?

This has to do with the tendency of marine commanders to leave blind sides to the command console itself. All you need is level 3 armor, another gorge racing to get resources and the marines FAR away from the main base.

This tactic works best with maps like bast, hera and eclipse, where there is space to hide from the prying eyes of respawning marines.

Go skulk with level 3 carapace. Observe the marine base until they actually leave en masse. This means that the base only has turrets and a few mines.

So a few suicide runs to get to the CC. Expect to die often. Now, if there are no turrets beside the CC, wait for money and evolve into a gorge. Wait for 28 resource points, then drop 2 OCs simultaneously, build like crazy and if your friends are doing ok, you should be largely undisturbed as you lay down a chamber forest right next to the CC. The commander himself is no problem since the OCs can take him out with 4 shots. Heal and build as you go. the other aliens should be busy attacking the rest of the base while you harass the CC. Smart commanders will build secondary CCs. You friends should kill these ASAP while you take out the first CC.

If you actually win with this tactic, the commander probably panicked. But it is a good way to delay the marines so you can spread across the map while they frantically try to destroy the chamber forest that suddenly sprang up right in their base. Even when they build seige guns it is possible to keep the chamber forest alive. Smart money for marines would be to secure another hive and start over in there.
