The new island just came out! Impressions, other land mass ideas and stuff.

So if you aren't aware a new island was recently added to the game, as well as the fact that both islands can be seen from anywhere on the map (like the Aurora). This island is awesome! Its not floating, but it has a nice beach and caves and stuff; I'll let you explore it. I made this post to tell you about a few complaints I have, and some interesting ideas.
1- Basalt, Magnetite and Lithium is EVERYWHERE on this island. These are rare loots that are only found in deep and hazardous areas of the game, and slapping them onto an island which can be located easily. There is some biter fish around, but it is still far too easy to get these end game items. It also doesn't logically make sense that basalt exists on a non-volcanic area. I see that the devs want to give players reason to explore this awesome place, but curiosity fulfills that. This makes diamond and uranium as common as quartz!
2 - Cave crawlers on the beach. Small issue, I know, but these things should be in the caves, not these nice sandy beaches. It says in the name .
3 - Another small issue: stalactites without stalagmites and vise versa. They look really nice, but in real life one CANNOT exist without the other. This is actually in a few other areas also. Doesn't really matter that much.
Now that I'm done complaining, time to talk about some of my ideas. If more and more surface biomes are added in the future, then some mechanics such as fall damage and possibly sprinting will be needed. Climbing slopes is also a little buggy. There would also be reason for a fast boat for getting around islands quickly, as well as some land based items. I definitely do NOT want Subnautica to move away from being an underwater game, but having land to explore is nice, as well as some land creatures.
So what do you think? Comment on if you want huge land masses or just a few smaller islands like we have now. Also tell me what you think of this new island and the insane amount of loot.
EDIT:In a recent version of the game they removed the fact that islands could be seen from almost anywhere in the map. I thought this was awesome, and I want it back. When new players come out of the life pod they would have noticed the islands and be exited to go and explore them, and now that feeling is gone. They are also useful landmarks like the Aurora, and finding them is a lot harder when they only appear when your pretty close.
Also people in the comments have said that the loot is not a big issue.

Especially in the cave on top.
It even comes with its own guard dog.
Exactly, have you been to the Grand and Sparse Reefs? Sparse has a good amount of Lithium and the Grand Reef is loaded with Diamond and Basalt if you go deep enough
For lithium I go to the hollowed out tree in the mushroom forest (not the jelly shroom)
Did you start a new game? If you loaded an old save in experimental it won't be there. In order to see any new changes to biomes you have to start a new game.
I wouldn't bother starting a new game. It looks like for the next build the developers are disabling being able to see the mountain and the floating island. The changes have already been made in experimental.
I'd like to add by saying I saw some magnetite in the glowing purple mushroom biome. So there is more than one place to find it, but I don't know if that'll be permanent or not.
If you're playing in Experimental, it's been moved to the Mountains biome.
Also, loot and creatures I'm the new area was a quick first pass, we plan to refine that further.
This. They are late game areas, or at least mid game areas, and shouldn't necessarily be altered because of draw distance xD
Glad to see a response from the devs. I was wondering why they were taken out.
Does it HAVE to have a Reaper around it, though?
The smaller the map, the more has to be hidden. In Skyrim the map was big and things were hidden in mountains, in Subnautica the best place is to use the depth underwater for most secrets. Fog above water is some solution to prevent immediate attraction, but it would be better to simply make any far water travels more dangerous and use more roaming predators. I remember that I blindly went out swimming, scanning the map and discovering that isle even not seeing it. So dangers are probably a better barrier.
YEES I LOVED THE FAR DISTANCE THINGY!!!!!!
I do love the underwater aspect of subnautica, but occasionally I want to go up on land and see the different plants and land animals. Maybe finding a few small islands would be nice, and even harder to find would be an extra large island, we need to have a place for the distress beacon after all.
I would actually like to see more of them. I rather liked the cave in the spire one that lead out into the open ocean...where I got eaten by a Reaper upon exiting. Still, it was interesting to explore, and I would love to see more floating islands at all depths to break up the open emptiness of some areas.
I wouldn't mind there being danger, such as a volcanic island that has some rare material. But having surface biomes would add just as much as deep sea ones in my opinion.
Not to mention in the Concept art they had lots of floating islands. I feel like we'll get an area with a massive amount of islands all in one area
