Calling All Maya Users!

I am having a slight problem with maya...

I can import all kinds of file types, obj etc.

But it seem i can only save or export as Maya binary format... This is a huge setback for me...

Maybe im just stupid and i have to do something to unlock the formats... Maybe my install in corrupt..... Anyone have any insight?

are you using the PLE version? if so you cannot export or save unless its in that special generic format, thats why is called personal learning edition. if not then i have no idea sorry.

There is an obj. export plugin that comes with maya, and you can also get the .smd export plugin. Cant remember the website, but do a google on maya + export + smd + halflife and you should be able to find it.
