Snazzy, That particular shade of pink probably means that you are missing some things and the game is desperately trying to show something there. If you check out your log you are gonna see a bunch of file not found errors. This can be caused by anything from a poor install from steam to hard drive failure.

    Things to do:

    1. Verify your install with steam: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
    2. If that doesn't work, try switching to experimental
    3. If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall.
    4. Check your hard drive for errors.

If none of that works, we can try OTHER THINGS. but the list is long and fraught with peril, ie I am lazy.

Yes, The Easter egg happened because the game tried to load an effect of some kind and could not do so. Then it faithfully used hot pink to show that it was trying to show something but couldn't load whatever it was.

    To simplify the loading process:

    1. load the right thing.
    2. if phase 1 fails load HOT PINK.
    3. display the thing.

Step 2 is helpful because it means missing things are visible to the player and can be reported.
