Dear readers,
i have a general question to Windows 10: does it work with NS2?
I'm considering changing my OS to Win10, but i'd like to play NS2 without restrictions of any kind.
If there's an official statement from UW i'd be very interested .
Thanks in advance.
Greetings

Before releasing Build 275 we tested NS2 on some of the latest Win 10 previews and it seems to work just fine.
So far there have been some issue reports but imho these come mostly from users who run into driver issues due to just upgrading without further thinking about the upgrade.
I clean-installed Win10 and immediately took NVidia's latest driver, 353.62, for my GTX 760. NS2 ran great, but I had display failures in and out of NS2, sometimes without recovery (requiring power cycle).
I rolled my NVidia drivers back to 353.30 (one older than latest), and my entire system, including hours of NS2 gameplay, has been completely stable ever since.
Funny, I get the loud pitched sound for 10 seconds AFTER I close down the client?
And I can't switch audio devices without one breaking and having to restart the client
Motherboards might not have updated their drivers yet, or else there's still an issue.
To be honest I don't get it anymore, I had a mass of driver updates come through few weeks ago and it hasn't been an issue since!
Haven't upgraded to win 10 just yet. But there shouldn't be any increase in FPS. Windows 10 is not made to make your games run better. But win 10 have a smaller size. And is easier to run. So you can get better performance if your PC was already struggling on your old OS. But otherwise not. Windows 10 seems like a good update to win 7. And feels more like future proofing than anything else.
