Lethal/ NonLethal compromise: Nervous Shutdown Device?

This is something I randomly thought up and could be A) useless or B ) overpowered or anywhere in between...
As usual, there is a lot of uhh, trench warfare xD going on about lethal / non lethal weaponry and equipment.
I think the lethal weapons would be implemented to remove a creature from the general area so that it doesn't bother the player for the time it takes to complete a specific task. (and if you're in 1 area for more than 5 minutes, and staying within range of 1 predator for that long, well, you're asking for it)
So, maybe there could be a device that, when attached to a creature, has a remote that can "deactivate" or slowdown, the speed and or turning speed of said creature
This might make going to the Aurora far more easy, as even though it might make sense to have the shutdown take longer as the RL is just far larger than most other predators, it would still slow down and almost be in a "sleep swim" state.
I'm not sure if it should be applied by hand like a floater, or from a means of propulsion...
Thoughts?

That's fine, but this IS a forum after all-- maybe edit your post later to explain why? :P
I feel better now even though i didnt sleep i have no idea how that happened. So i think the reason why is because for me, the reaper would kinda loose its scaryness and change it into being annoying..(when its slower or the turning speed is less strong) cause its still there making the scary noises but it acts like something thats isnt supposed to be scary, this contradiction would throw me off personally. Like it would scream like devil incarnate but since it cant turn itd just bump into reefs all the time or swim behind you while you leisurely look back at it and laugh straight to the bank. A shock to deactivate a creature completely for a short time would be something id agree on. I think the developers and the players already had an idea for that, its an electric shock the seamoth can use when a reaper grabbed it. The reaper would then let go and be stunned and confused for a time.
EDIT: This would cost loads of energy though so you are not completely safe in your seamoth and you should still evade being caught.
That's why I think it should be applied by hand-- so you'd have to go to the reaper and stasis it hand-to-hand (or at least, very short range) And keep in mind it wouldn't last forever lol.
