Sea Base Airlocks and why/how they need to be Implemented

Frankly I would love to have airlocks. I have thought out how they would function as well. So you build your grand and glorious base. Is it really believable that the hatch just lets you in dry as a bone...no it isn't. So what I thought is that you will have an airlock tube(made from one "I tube"). This is a tube unit meant specifically for being an airlock rather then modifying a normal straight tube. The entrance of the tube can easily use the same hatch to enter the tube, but is permanently mounted to the tube. The end of the tube that connects to the base will automatically form a bulkhead door. On the wall will be a control panel with a FLOOD and PURGE button on it. Both doors will neither open or close unless the correct flood/purge condition is met for the direction you are wanting to go, in or out. I have heard complaints of taking too long to get in and out. Got that solved too. When the base floods from damage, it takes a long time to purge the base due to the large amount of air space in the base. You need to pressurize many cubic feet of air to make it go down, and at a slow rate. In the airlock, square footage is small, therefore needing less pressure, and can be purged at a faster rate. I was thinking long enough flood/purge cycle to feel like you are really using an air lock, but fast enough not to be annoying. I was thinking maybe a five to ten second flood purge cycle would be fast, and convincing and not annoying. The hatch door currently in game would work, but I was picturing something larger that takes up most, if not all of the round grey end of the tube similar to the big round door in the cyclops, but maybe not as bulky. A large swing door with a handle animation like the bulkhead doors. Then you swim in and close the door for purge cycle.
If a dev gets to see this post, I would like to hear your opinion on it, that is if something is not already in the works. I want to hear about my idea anyway. This to me seems like a comfortable fit for the way this game is going, and really just helps kill that, you are in a game where magic stuff happens without explanation. Click, POOF!!!, you are in the door and the sea did not follow you in. How you ask? Magic I guess.
