Navigation and you!

I'm having a blast. I've been playing for hours and blabbing to everyone about this game when I can. I love nothing more than to get in my Seamoth or Cyclops to drive around some reefs and reefbacks.

Only problem is that it's so very clumsy because of the lack of information. Especially the cyclops. But then again I get that! It's a base sub, not an agile explorer. Sure, it can squeeze between crevasses but it shouldn't be able to spelunker.

So are we getting a sonar system and collision detection? Work it like you have to trigger it for a pulse that illuminates the terrain around you for a few moments. Mapping systems as well. It'd be amazing if we could create a 3D map in the game tied to a biome/lifeform database that tells and shows everything you learn about an area.

Just my random thoughts for now.

Would be nice if the cyclops could go below 200-300m without damage, had data that gave it's speed, position relative to a map you would be creating. Able to auto navigate back to preset points, by command from the moth, used sonar etc. Had computers on board for detailing the fish and fauna. Even just a seat.. maybe a sun roof. Or an anchor..

And the moth.. could do with the wheel lowered abit, to give more viewable room directly in front, like the cyclops has. Needs speed data, depth, sonar.. and an anchor.. oh and a transponder.. like the raft and cyclops. Or even maybe, you could remove the one from the raft and install it into the moth. Or make one and install it as an optional extra.

I carry an extra beacon and drop it by the seamoth when I move away from it. Kinda annoying! But right now, I just want vehicles to feel a little more elegant than these big...clumsy things. Instead of piloting a sealab sub I'm dealing with the Hunley. A very attractive and useful Hunley.

I agree with more navigation features. A craftable chart table maybe. Definitely need a map to go with my compass :-D I was also thinking of the idea of strobes on the ships. I like the beacon but have always love the look of strobes on subs like in the SeaQuest series or on hips like in space games.

Another game I play has a feature that as you explore and unlock areas, wiki pages start to open up and you build an in game database. Just another idea since the data is there and can plugin to the map or world items.

Shagohad, thanks for the idea :-)

Oh, and spotlights! When can we have full access over those? I know that glow from the lower lights on the Cyclops aren't it! I know all this will come, but it's exciting to brainstorm how it might be.
