Demoralized Commander

Well I was in this game with 4 others, and I was cc since nobody else wanted it. The first time they went out, they all got killed by 1 skulk i think, even though i tried dropping med packs on them. Then the next time they went out, they all stood around building the resource node and another 2 skulks got them despite me typing "cover each other". At this point I was so demoralized that I jumped out to lead them personally. Some other guy went into CC. BTW we lost that game.

I hate it when the guy in the CC decides that it's over.
An incompotent noob who thinks the marines can still win the day is a better Comm than ANYONE that thinks the round is lost and refuses to take it back.

actually i think we did better with me as the nco on the ground telling them where to go. I didnt give up. If we had continued with me as cc, it would have been even worse.

That happened to me too. We were losing and I hopped into the command chair when it was vacated, but everyone was running off doing their own thing and getting slaughtered. So I jumped out of the chair and started organizing the marines as a field commander, and told the guy that got in the chair to just follow my lead and support us. We ended up winning that game.

This works both ways. Some commanders just won't listen to their marines. You can keep telling them they need to build turrets on all sides of the factory, but they just don't care (most do take the advice, but some don't). Once, when that happened, and the aliens were complaining because teams were balanced against them, I switched to aliens. We quickly got the third hive after I took out that turret factory.
You could say I had the advantage of unfair information, but really, when you're a you shouldn't just attack at he frontline, you're the perfect alien to probe their defences and attack behind enemy lines, where the poorly defended juicy bits are. And marine commanders shouldn't think something is safe because it's behind the front line. A good skulk can get pretty far through all but the biggest turret farms.

Yeah, a whole group of marines being decimated by one skulk, it's demoralizing. I once was a marine, on a server with good to moderated players. When a whole group is decimated by a skulk you only have one choice:
Skulk ( or the whole alien team ) are good
Marines that don't play good or the ones that have a bad day ( happens some time you know ).
Well we were walking, and suddenly falling down the wall, a skulk attacked my teammates, tried to save them, but I think the aliens planned that, because another one bitted me behind my back. And being decimated like that is kind of hard, but hey it's the game! ( commander was in a bad mood, but he admitted he didn't expect that either, dark corners are nasty )
To come back to the topic, does people have a hard time understanding...
Listen.To.Commander
No buts, just listen! Of course they are exceptions, sometimes commander is just a marine that never played as commander, but hey, if you think you can help him, then just tell him what to do ( if you were once a commander that played good and that knows what he does ). People need to learn listening. And if commander kinda panics, help him instead of *obscenity* him off! You can still boot him though if you think you're up to the job... Commander also need help, and marines need help of commander ( like wlibaers said )
Well, you can't repeat that eternally...listen...

I think that people should stop whining to commanders for shotguns and heavy armor and jetpacks. But i also think that the commander should'nt forget to reward the good marine every now and then i think that the commander and his marines must agree on certain things, like when someone asks for ammo, and they just took out 2 skulks and are running low, the commander better give that marine ammo. Case in point, i was defending a resource collector, asking for help from my fellow marines, when a skulk runs up. I drop him, but quickly realize i only have 23 bullets left, and the next decent skulk that runs at me is going to have a nice big lunch. So i ask my commander for ammo, and he does not respond (It should be noted also that we had plenty of resources, so i was not whining for something that could not be accomplished, or was too hard). So i wait another 5 minutes, still nothing. Just then 2 skulks run at me. I got owned, and they took out the resource collector, big surprise. I go back to that same place and find an enemy resource collector there. Now if that commander, who had PLENTY of time, had just payed some attentiona dn given someone defending a vital position some ammo, i probably would have been able to keep that resource point, or at least taken out one skulk. Well i guess my point is that the cmdr and marines need to cooperate. Marines cannot be constantly whining for hmg, especially if they are not doing jack for the team, and at the same time, the commander must also provide ammo and necessities for his marines, especially when it comes down to defending a vital point on a map.

I have seen this happen to me once and it sucked all 5 marines getting chomped by 1 skul over and over again. Even with some keeping watch and others building it would still happen. Then they blamed me and voted me out lol then we lost.

I was once in a game as a Marine, getting killed by the same two skulks over and over again. We'd go in a huge group of 4 or 5 marines, but the skulks would kill all of us anyways. After a while we got so afraid of skulks that we'd shoot wildly whenever we saw a hint of one, and get owned while reloading. It was pathetic. =(

So much of the Marine game is really psychological... Once you start feeling freaked out and scared of every dark corner, you die over and over again.

Amen to that ...

One time our marines were being overwhelmed. I snuck off and from a vent vantage-point started wailing on an unguarded hive. Ran out of ammo, called for more while emptying my pistol. Continued calling for ammo, now just wielding a knife, with the hive still unguarded ... hearing the death-screams of my comrades over vcomm, still calling for ammo, the commander finally says "where are you?" *sigh* Told him where I was (again), continued to call for ammo, never got it, hive didn't die, marines lost ... AAaargh ...

Btw I was the last marine alive... still in the vent ... with the knife ... took down 3 skulks and a lerk before I finally bought it ...
