Iris was a very content and happy base pet. I had raised her from birth and modified her dna so that she could actually swim through air allowing her to freely wander the base corridors! I am an amazing scientist, I know. I was all alone on this forsaken alien ocean world and Iris was my life line. She was a special little fish I had turned in to an air breather like me and who I fancied I could confide in from time to time, retaining some measure of sanity. We would chase each other through the corridors playing tag every evening and munch on acid mushrooms for dinner - not nearly as exhilarating an eating experience as it sounds. Despite getting her head stuck in them and having a mini panic attack, she loved chasing stasis bubbles down the passages as well. Everything was great until I decided to install some windows thinking it would "open up the place" a bit more.
Iris just wasn't the same after that.
All she does is sit next to them with a depressed wide eyed stare now... occasionally making a small wistful peep as creatures swim by. I'm sorry Iris.
