Anybody tried the Intel 3258 with NS2?

The overclocking community has been in a tizzy about this dual core CPU since it came out last year. It can overclock on air, to match an i5, at 1/3 of the MSRP. Linus seems to be pretty excited about it. Some people have noted that it stutters on some CPU intensive games. Any active NS2 player, with the processor in an overclocked state, care to comment?

I have one paired with a 750ti on a linux computer. It plays ns2 at 60fps. Couldn't compare fps to windows though.

It is a great chip for single threaded cpu performance, but it is no match for an i5. I5 has 2 more cores and more l3 cache. Ns2 uses 2.5 cores, maybe more with multithreaded physics, so a quad core would indeed have more performance than a dual core.

£187 for the overclockable i5, £53 for the other one. "overclocked@4.6"

Comming from an intel Q6600@3.2, = 2/3rds more fps, pretty much doubled.
My nvidia 550ti gpu scores 2500 on 3d mark compared to 8000-10000+ for newer mid range cards, basically dont rely on this opinion ^^,

as a guess your going to get 2/3rds of the performance at less than a 1/3 of the price.
    :-$
