More detailed updates

Hi everyone and devs:

I think the updates should have more details about what's new in it. It's nice to get updates, but not don't knowing what they have.

Examples:

Dev Update 8:

The update told us about the pipes, the new creatures like the bone shark, bleeders, etc... . But it didn't say anything about the new objects that we can find: The Fragments (Seamoth fragment, stasis rifle fragment, constructor fragment...). That I think was something too important to be told... and it wasn't. We had to discover them at the constructor and then looking for something new in the deeps. Of course, fragment's spawns are extremely random, but that is another topic. Did we know anything in the update about them? No. Should we? Yes. (In my opinion)

Dev Update Cyclop release:

Everyone was praying for this day. Myself too. And it finally comes. The Cyclops are here. But what about the information non-concerning the Cyclop? Blueprints, new fragments, titanium and the new stone for crafting it (I don't remember right now it's name)... these are some examples about new contents to the main game that we can't now until we play and face them. What are blueprints?? How do we get them?? How do they look?? No one knows.

These are two examples I have in mind while I was writing this post.

My suggestion:

The updates should have a complete list with the contents of the updates:
- New objetcs
- Bug Fixing
- Etc...

In the case of new objects, adding a screen to know how do they look would be great. (Example: ok, I need to find a constructor fragment... But how does it look?)

I'm loving this game, but the updates needs to have complete information.

P.D.: Following Trello development or the Twitter Devs accounts helps a bit, but not everyone do it and not all the info is there.

Agreed... since you guys are using early access, every effort should be made to make the updates filled with info, otherwise people will assume its like DayZ all over again

Aw, but you need to have SOME kind of mystery!! You don't get those 'ooo' moments when everything is laid out for you on a platter. :p

Jeez Guy, they have trello, you have access to the daily builds, so you can see for yourself what is being added and worked on.

I'm sure they'd love to write about every single line of code they have added/changed but this is a work in progress, explore and discover stuff, that's the beauty of development.

If you want to know what is in the game before you start playing, i suggest you wait until the game is released then read the wiki :D

We're talking about what others OUTSIDE this circle see.

You already get the trello board, checkins, and the release blog with videos each major (monthly) release. What else could you possibly want?

In a development alpha the list of changes doesnt writen detailed. Things will be implemented, balanced, removed etc. Its a lot of work keeps the list of changes up to date, devs does spent this time to develope. After release the update list muss be detailed writen, displayed changes in game (game launcher) but atm trello is the best platform to inform yourself

Seems one side can't get the point across, which is fine

I think this thread is kinda useless now, but it was fun discussing it :)

Not everyone follows Trello (I do), and ok, they give lot of info there. But it's a bit unstructured. Not in the sense that is a full caos, but the fixes and the new content is mixed.

There is a good example about another game in development too that give full information about every update they add: Space Engineers:

Their video shows the most important things of the update, not only one (talking about the last Subnautica update, where they only shown the Cyclop and the welder), and they describe them and, if necesary, how do they work. Then, their patchnotes have the full list about the new content AND bug fixing. And they are making this weekly. If they can do this every week, why Subnautica dev team doesn't? They have even more time than Space Engineers Dev team to prepare the video and a full list of the patchnotes.

I repeat, this is only my opinion about the info in Subnauticas updates

UNLIKE space engineers though you know EVERYTHING that is being worked on with this game, so of COURSE they need to go over everything in the SE videos. Hell they already do here with their videos, the cyclops was the only real thing added to this that was big so what else would they have put in their videos. Look at the LAST big release they showed everything that was added of real note to the game.

I could not have said it any better. Yes it would be nice to have "complete" changelogs for each update but it's a lot of work. Work we'd rather spend on making the game better. Right now we are moving way too fast to be able to distill a correct and complete changelog with reasonable effort. We offer plenty of alternative ways to see what has changed though:

I know that those sources of information are very raw but at least it's something.
