Stalkers have Earned their Name.

Hi.

I don't know what in the name changed with the latest update but I found the Stalkers much more aggressive, and very nasty.

I cheated, and turned the day into night (I really enjoy the nighttime). As I was coming toward the kelp field, and just started to rise above a small outcrop of coral four Stalkers immediately started in on me. I use to be able to just play with them, and not give too much care what they did but this time it was different. All four stalked me, and would not let me be until I headed to the surface (even then they still attacked), and swam with everything I had back to my lifeboat.

That was the first time I have ever had to get out of the area, and all four had every intention on making me their meal for the night.... Incredible!

Nice Job Devs, first time I ever feared for my life while playing the game, and I loved every minute of it. :)

Cheers!

Yeah, stalkers put on their target detectors at night now. I wouldn't recommend going into kelp forest at night anymore. Not until we have something for you to help the situation. Hint, hint.

I always thought the stalkers were audio or motion sensitive.

I lay down on the kelp floor a few times and have had them swim right over me, but now and then they seem to come at me even when still and out of their way.

Fortunately, they prefer to break off the attack and feed on a peeper, so if there aren't any nearby, I'd recommend carrying a satchel of peepers to release when being chased by stalkers, it's a great diversion, until this mystery other stuff gets added....

Nope. But Crashes are. They won't bother you if you are still.

You might be on to something...

Hmmm, I just tried what was suggested above (releasing peepers) while I was being chased by Stalkers, and it worked very well.

    Good to see it's working.

The stalkers really developped well. Very good job.

One observation though: The stalkers seem to hit even larger targets like the seamoth, even when you bounce into them and thus hit them hard. They don't seem to fear anything.

Probably the fear behaviour of predators will be done much later.

    Forgot another observation:

Escaped from a stalker in a small tube. The stalker seems to never go away. No timing to give up the hunt? Or does it take just very long?

Good point. We will need to address that some day.

Should be fixed in latest version.
