Fake server is annoying...enough is enough

in NS2 General Discussion
I notice this server always has 18 players out of 24 players (18/24) Day and Night. I now believe it is a troll server because I can't even connect to that server and what makes it so weird it is always 18/24. Who do I report about fake servers? This is just annoying because I always seem to try to connect to it with 100% error. At first I thought it was a private LAN server or something, but what is strange every day it is always 18/24... Can we do something about these troll servers..

    every time i open NS2 it is always 18/24 seems fake to me...unless NS2 can now have bots?

    Right click on the server multiple times in NS2 browser, if all the players have exactly the same playtime its most likely BOTS, yes NS2 does have bots, the 18/24 is most likely reservations.

    my mistake, didn't know ns2 had bots now and this reservation thing that makes it look full as well. That explains it. I thought it was just a troll trying to cause grief on us. My bad

    Bots don't count towards player counts. If the play time of players doesn't change, then the server is probably not working correctly.

    I had this yesterday with one of the siege servers. It was 18/22 and when I clicked on it it gave the same error message. If I right clicked on the server it would disappear instantly from my server list.

    Restarted NS2 and still had the same problem.

    I saw a similar server this morning but it definately wasn't a fake server. It had real player names with connection lengths of > 15 hours. I'm pretty sure it was a bugged server.

    Seems like a semi-crashed server to me.

    I have seen similar things in the past. If the lua vm crashs, the server status isn't updating anymore and ppl are unable to connect as connect msg is not handled by the server anymore. Only way to fix this is restarting the server.

    As user just ignore the server for now. And no offense but that this is happening to siege mod servers is not really surprising me at all.
