water too clear

Regarding the water in general, it appears to be too clear. I'm not talking about distance fog or anything like that. I'm talking about specs of tiny organisms and debris. Even in the clearest of ocean water, there are always bits of stuff floating around.
Certain areas could have more or less debris, depending on terrain, conditions, etc.
This could be done via procedural, non-physical entities - similar to the schools of fish, but spread out more. Use of these could be limited to the area 5-10 meters around the player, as the debris would tend to be too small to perceive past that distance, and the fog takes over too.
