Hello,
I had purchased NS2 a while back and played for a long time. I reformatted hard drive a month ago and never reinstalled it. In attempts to show the game off to some friends I tried last night 8/6/2014 to re-downloaded and play NS2. Instead of being able to play the game I was given an error that says "The application has encountered a fatal error"
Log.txt reads the following;
Build 267
Windows 8 64-bit (build 9200)
Error: PhysX: Invalid Cuda context!
Steam initialized
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

You may start with being sure ns2 is fully removed before you reinstall, including settings.
start with: http://forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/131428/obby-s-full-nuke-ns2-guide-only-way-to-be-sure#latest
1. Try right click on ns2.exe and run from Administrator. If it not helps, then:
2. Go to: %appdata%/Natural Selection 2/system_options.xml
And change this:
<device>D3D9</device>
to this:
<device>D3D11</device>
Start the game, try compile shaders by connecting to any server, after that bring back D3D9 via ingame options.
You should be running in DX9 mode as metroid suggests.
If this doesnt fix your issue please attach your techsupport.zip file that is made from your techsupport.exe located in your ns2 folder, immediately after crashing.
Something tells me you have a bigger issue than physx or dx11 tho..
Running as Admin does not help. I tried your second option but could not find the system_options.xml -The only thing inside the NS folder was the log.txt.
The issue may be larger, but it's only with this one game. Will look for the techsupport.zip.
