I hope the shiny design of Subnautica won't clash too much with NS2's gritty world, if they are supposedly set in the same universe. That would be weird... and inconsistent.

The worlds untouched by the TSF are bright and shiny! Its only AFTER there is a TSF colony that they become all grimy and funky!
