Why are the pings so bad in the morning?

Perhaps its just me and my area but the pings on every server are very bad every morning. The meters are red or yellow and I honestly won't even try to get into a server with a 200 or 300 millisecond lag time. Near the afternoons and evening the pings are great though. Is this the same for everyone else? I was just curious about this.

Sure you aren't playing in a different region?

Are you in NA? As @sebb hinted at, you might be joining servers across a pond or two. When I try to play in the morning in NA, usually the only servers populated are European servers because most American servers are not yet populated. I join them until I can help seed or join a populated server closer to me, usually late morning/early afternoon.

Depending on where you're at, could be the same kind of thing.

Yes I'm in North America. And no its every friggin' server available. I think you're right though 2cough, because few people in North America are awake or playing games yet at this time.

Also you have the ISP link and bandwidth management that can get in the way.

Internet traffic is higher at night than in morning. Sometime to save money they use links with a lower bandwidth at some moments of the day (or use more these links). In the rush hours they go with the high priced big guns. It's a business model logic based on contract from ISP to ISP for example.

Basically the "pipes" have a price depending on capacity and or usage. It depends on the way they do things. Every ISP is doing that.
