Increasing decal time/quantity

I want to increase the decal staying time to beyond 1 minute. Also, if its possible, I'd like to increase the maximum amount of total decals able to be displayed. I remember setting mp_decals to 4096 in NS1 so minutes after big battles you could still see the alien blood\bullet richochets everywhere. Would love to do this again in NS2.

I've tried editing the decal fade time manually in the system_options.xml to 20.0, but it seems to have no effect. Have a decent computer so I would like to test it.

wow imagine if there would be dark brown decayed infestation or rotten one where infestation once was if marines pushes back hard or takes over a room/hive location.
    So cycle will go from:
Infested - noninfested to Infested - slowly decayng infestation - non infested.

I want a mod where bodies don't disappear, and decals last forever... and I don't want it to run slowly.

Also bodies have mass, so if your team keeps running in and getting killed... well they still accomplish clogging up the doorway so the other team can't get through!

oh you mean all collision boxes would be saved for the entire course of 1 game? servers ticrate falls with more and more entitys late game, i could not imagine how much lag all body entitys and collision data saved troughout the game would cause :D

Slider to max means they don't get destroyed but there is a max amount of decals I think before they get destroyed.

Yup. Also if we had infinite decals then the games would be laggier than siege maps after a while. (and eventually crash)

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but does anyone know how to make this happen? I've searched through a number of lua files and can't find the code that sets this integer. Even being able to point in the probable direction would help. To recap, I want to:

    - Increase the 'stay' time of decals beyond 1 minute, just for testing purposes. 5 minutes would be optimal. I'm not worried about performance issues, I just want to know where/if it can be done.

Is there a way to raise the max amount of allowed decals?
