Game ending prematurely

I was watching an epic pug on tram earlier, marines had shipping, repair and elev cc's, but only ips in shipping.

The aliens rushed shipping power, killed all marines and the cc and ips and the game ended, however... there was a mac building an ip in elevator that had reached 80%

Had the game not ended the mac would have finished the ip, marines would have had time to spawn and the game could have still gone either way.

The question that was asked was is it fair to change the game mechanics so that as long as there is bluepritned or half built ip on the field the game will continue, thus potentially allowing macs to save the day for marines.

Regardless If we look at it from the alien game mechanics perspective. If there is an unbuilt hive with a drifter building it, (even with no other hives, no eggs, and all dead aliens) afaik the game will not end. Therefore I think It's only fair there is a simlar mechanic added for what flags the game to finish for marines. e.g if there is a mac building and ip the game should not end like it currently does...

I understand this might be a lot of work for a situation that will very rarely arise. But I would have loved to see how that epic game played out if the current mechanics would have allowed for that mac to finish the ip XD

The game also doesnt end when a cc blueprint was dropped and everything else is dead. I've seen comp games where that was the deciding factor for Marine win. Also Ip's cost way less than a Hive.

There is a comment line in the code that has been there since beta mentioning this issue, but it has never been attempted to code this into the game rules, at least, not in released code. It could in theory be added quite easily, but would require a lot of testing and stuff to iron out bugs and to make sure it doesn't bring up any other random issues.

I guess as the actual use-case is very limited, the effort required to add it makes it un-worthwhile.
