Cant use custom skins on servers

i tried to edit some dds files with paint.exe to use them in game, not as a mod, but when i try to join some servers i recieve a message saying that my files dont match the server files, is there a way to change my own skins and dont affect the game system?

    No. Because if that was allowed, anyone could make fluorescent textures, or any other kind of cheating, hacking, texture mod. Hell, they could make wall textures invisible and all sorts.
