Main Hive Rush

This is a strategy of gamble, but it makes a quick win if pulled right plus luck (has been done before).

1) Locate the main hive
Don't build anything but drop a resource tower on one of the hive nozzle. If that RT can NOT be dropped, then the main hive is there (2 RTs wasted if unluckly).

2) Rush and camp out the main hive
Order all marines to camp at corners of the main hive (lame spawn camping but it really owns) and drop ammo packs on those camping spots. Then order ONLY ONE marine to build infantry portals at that hive.

3) Destroy the hive.
That single marine who built the portals should knife the hive to death or ordered to build Ts.

Getting spawn-killed, no alien shall be able to leave the hive. Therefore, marines win once the hive is taken down.

    first of all.. u can locate the hive by simply listening for a heartbeat at each hive location.

    2nd of all... I really don't think this has much chance of succsess. You are choosing to leave ur base in a state that 1 skulk can take it out. Not only that, but if your marines are killed then ur screwed. EVEN IF you get the infantry portals up at the enemy hive, your screwed if the team dies because a skulk chewing on an infantry portal has no trouble killing disoriented marines that spawn.

    i think its possible only when a skull rush fails miserably

    another reason why you shouldn't send all your skulls to suicide (rush into marine base) at start of the game.

    the wait to respawn really sux, esp if you're the last to die <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    basically, after the first rush, unless the aliens all wait for each other at spawn before rushing again, its 6 marines vs 1 skull 4 times.. then they're at the hive <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Yes, the initial skulk rush is very dangerous against a good marine team. Pick off the rush - easily done - then rush the hive while it respawns one skulk per 20 sec...

    Against good teams, its better to just try to parasite a few of them, then ambush them when you know where they are going.

    Very early game, before the skulks get their carapace, the marines are more powerful than the aliens. They can use this to take out the first hive.

    I don't think this strat is a sure way to win but it is an extreme gamble..even more then the "hive rush" to an empty one. It works but will most likey not succeed.

    Here are some of the flawsin the strat...
    1) Over and Under-estimation
    - You want to pick off the respawning skulks by hiding everyone there? guess what...? who will be at home base to kill them off to make them respawn?
    - they have warnings also u kno? if a noob shots ONLY ONE bullet at the hive, it sounds and alert and all skulks come rushing back to their only hive to concentrate on you
    - what will prevent 6 skulks from eating 5 marines? -1 marine cause of comm and maybe more cause of noobs and uncoordinated ones so its pretty much 6 skulks vs 3-4 marines
    - hrmm...i wonder who can climb on walls and have super speed?
    - hrmm...who has only 50 lmg bullets, 10 pistol and has to reload which more skulks respawning next to u?
    2) No defense at base so CC will get destroyed, no ammo drops for u
    -Infantry Portal will probably be the only building you have, maybe Armory
    3) Who has the man power out of those 3-4 willing marines to find the hive? if you do and split your team, they'll be on to you
    4) last scenerio, who has all those bullets to plug into the skulks, gorges, chambers and the hive? you expect your basic spawned ammo to help? if everything adds up, you have 50/50 ammo on lmg, 10/10 on pistol x 3-4 marines vs all the buildings and skulks. and how many of your bullets will actually hit? if they get smart and destroy your cc (no ammo drops) and you didn't get a armory built...have fun knifing it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    This so called rush is way too hard to pull off, and doesn't work most of the time. Since it takes 2 bites to kill your marines, it is best to just keep them at base and have them put up the D to keep them safe!
