<div class="IPBDescription">Lordy he sucked!</div> OK, I don't mind new commanders, that's not the kind of bad I'm talking about. I'm talking about the guys that understand the game and how it works, and manage to lower the skill level of a REALLY good marine team by being a complete knob.
Case in point: ErgoN (I think that's it).
Situation one: Hundreds of wasted resources when we needed many different things.
"Commander, I have a resource node clear"
So, he puts up 3 MORE turrets in our base (which already has a bazillion turrets), and says "No resources". He of course ignores the resource point until we give up.
Situation two: We take a hive, no base. We ask for phase gates, armory, etc... He instead upgrades the turret factory, and drops down 3, count 'em, THREE, siege turrets inside the hive. NO alien buildings withing 10 miles.
Situation three: Hundreds of saved up resources. No heavy weapons, no arms lab, no prototype lab, no phase gates to key points (two phase gates going to pointless resources, not in choke points, not in hives)
Situation four: Command center under attack. Tells us all to come back. Does not give us a phase gate. We have about 150 resources. Tell him to put down a command chair "CC under attack, get here now!"
I'm the only one that makes it back, and I got chomped. Tell him to put up a CC asap, as someone else got the skulks. Abject refusal. Eventually, the skulks rushed again before the rest made it back, and we lost the command chair.
He then blames us for not listening, for being terrible marines, etc... etc... The point is, the guy knew the game, he knew the map, knew what he should have been doing. Worst Commander ever, those four situations were just one of the many many there were that game. We had a top notch team, doing the best we could with a commander that would screw us over at every point possible, but it just wasn't enough, once the command chair was gone, we were screwed.
Good job ErgoN, I hope you never command again.
*whew* Glad I got that off my chest.

wondering the same thing...
Some ppl know the game but they dont know Basci strategy for commanding and they get pwned in that chair....
The only thing i can say is that he was an idiot to blame the rest when leading the team is his and only his responsability...
You are the leader, if somebody screws up, you are in charge and it´s your fault, thats the leader n°1 rule...

I'm more hoping he reads this and realises that he has no clue how to command.

Once you have the essentials up-- phase gate, turrets, etc.-- it's really not a bad idea to build siege turrets at the corners of a base, even if there are no Alien buildings around. It helps preempt Fade + DC hit and run attacks.
