I also crash (sometimes) when i join a team and this seems to be at random. I have added my steam output.

I have removed the .config files and removed local content and the game still is crashing in menu and randomly when playing. :(
It seems to either be a out of memory error OR unable to create a X window depending if try to enter the menu or not.

It doesn't look like crashing, you have "Shutting down" in the end so it ends properly. Could it be the case that you somehow close the game window? Like with hotkey or something. Or maybe some key is stuck (Alt, for example) and you press F4 to get into the ready room and the game window receives Alt+F4 hence shutting down. I had stucking keys with kbdd + AwesomeWM for the reason unknown. On my work configuration with all the same software it worked flawless so maybe it's my keyboard or something that doesn't work well with kbdd.

Anyway, look into dmesg for segfault messages, try to get a backtrace. For me NS2 works fine since build 258, no crashes and so.

Hi rkfg thank you kindly for taking some of your time to help me.
The "Shutting down" is what i believe me shutting down "Steam" i started steam in a terminal to get some output. I did the backtrace you asked of me and it resulted in this
pastebin.com/PD7LnbuN This game i was able to go into the menu in the middle of the game and randomly just crashed. I am currently using i3 tiling window manager but the same happens when i try XFCE4
I did a second try and this time i tried enter the menu in readyroom pressing nothing else but "esc" and this is the backlog of the crash pastebin.com/um3E6FTX

Those aren't backtraces and basically useless. You forgot to execute the "bt" command which should show the call stack. Try again and post it here. The backtrace should look like this. Check the thread for more samples and maybe you'll find a trace similar to your.

I'm sorry i missed that step. I have now logged 3 different backtracks
Ingame Crash not touching menu just playing: http://pastebin.com/9GEhu6B6
Ready room trying to use menu: crach http://pastebin.com/p345WJ0m
    Crashing while loading map: http://pastebin.com/QS2Dh8Pp

    and the dmesg output:
    3314.202250] ns2_linux32[13367]: segfault at 0 ip 00000000f37aacc0 sp 00000000d5d9bfe8 error 4 in libc-2.18.so[f3672000+1a9000]
    I hope this helps
