Open up options.xml in Steam/userdata/userid/4940/options.xml and anywhere near the top add
<RequestWeld>KEY</RequestWeld>
Key can be anything that is printed out when you type bind in the console. This wil add a bind to Request Weld in game. This is the only one that I know of that this works with, sadly, except NextWeapon. But it's still useful and not very known.

To bind NextWeapon do the same thing,
<NextWeapon>KEY</NextWeapon>
Can be used to disable mouse wheel scroll. MouseZ can also be bound to any other function.

Unfortunately found this out after I lost my options file due to moving Steam and it starting the game while not connected and overwriting.

Thanks, I noticed that Q (medpack on marine) dosn't work for weld requests anymore in exos.

Does this work on normal marines too if I bind it to another key?

Meh, if there was more then 2-3 different attacks I'd have probably kept it, but mousewheel is pretty damn fast either way.

Doesn't this add a considerably vision obscuring and generally pretty annoying waypoint on top of the player?

Request weld does that yes. No one would notice it without it though

    I have F1 bound to j1 and F2 bound to j2 <- did this with console a while ago "bind F1 j1" and "bind F2 j2"

Edit for being a noob at binding and not knowing how to read

I did exactly as he wrote on the post, using F1.

It just says "Weld target at waypoint" but no waypoint appears with commander, or any other players on field. Tested it today on a server. They should just add the "weld me" icon back into NS2 like they used to have with NS1 along with an audio cue. Worked great.

Many players just ignore the little yellow wrenches.

I've seen the waypoint before. If it's not showing than it's a bug that I need to report
