i have been working on my map when i get the time and i have been busy filling in some textures to some areas i feel are complete. with that said, i started to get slightly annoyed to find out that (ctrl+D) only works for the actual face and not the texture that is applied to it. to be simple, is there a way to keep the textures i apply to these faces in place so that when i do duplicate an object it will carry the textures over with it without messing them up ?

Well, from what I heard, copy paste is better than duplicate, but anyways, you might try locking the textures. Never used it so I don't know how it works, but it is on the bottom right.

Locking is working acceptable (but not always) if you move your geometry parallel to the grid. If you want to turn your geometry, it is working not well.

If you build something big outside the map and move it in position after you finished it, I would advice to move it with standard textures first and texture it in place. That safes a lot of time and nerves (Bird of Prey *cough*).
