So i have been looking on the forums at some amazing custom maps people have made and thought i would take a dabble at the map editor. I started this about a week ago and still have a very long way to go but i think it's going well so far, although texturing takes forever. I have only really done the hangar/ready room but i am working on the layout for the full map.

    Just a small update, I've done most of the texturing in the ready room although some will probably be changed and I have also added in some clutter. Any advice on how you think I could improve this would be very welcomed :)

    A bit empty, though. Maybe some props to fill it? It's a hangar; a shuttle, maybe?

    Nice work so far! What I would advise is making the floor a little more interesting. Right now it's a giant plane with one texture, so instead you could perhaps build a lane going from door to door and trim that, and perhaps cross that with lanes from the pillars on the left side to the pillars on the right side. Break up the monotony of the floor a bit.

    The accent textures you're using are yellow, orange, and red offset against grey and desaturated blue. It feels a little all over the place. You might be able to tie it together with lighting other than white, so I would try and experiment with that.

    You didn't take these screenshots at the highest graphical settings, did you?

    Hi, thanks for the comments, I'll try and work on the hangar a bit more but I'm trying to flesh out the rest of the map atm. Also i took the pics on the highest dx9. Dx11 seems to have an issue with my computer :P

    YES! Wanted to do a BSG Map myself but my Hangar looked like c**p. Needs some custom Viper an Raptor models though.

    Yeh, the marine dropship is just a temporary prop until i can figure out how to import custom models!

    So i've done the initial layout of battlestar and wanted to get the more experienced mappers opinions, i am going to edit the top left because it is at a slight angle and is annoying the hell out of me. I have also started fleshing out the war-room (Currently CIC).

    I could be wrong here... but does anyone else think that this layout looks quite similar to Jambi?
