Fast details
Round 1
LS@flight control, Shift hive / Saunamen@data core and pushing Crossroad.
LS unfortunately lost fade too early. They never got a second chance. Cyst lol...
Round 2
Saunamen@flight, Carapace, drifter / LS@data
Left-Right strategy is : Alien attack base in order to make marines fall-back and rebuild if necessary. Then they attack Rts.
Around 6 minutes marines starts to loose res. Double Onos is out at ~17.
Reddog Twitch TV started to crach... Alternate stream on french side was available but did crashed after round 3.
On Jambi
Round 3
Saunamen@Docking / LS@Waste shift hive.
They had forth and back,
then at ~7:00 Saunamen drop a first PG Pipeline hive
7:15 PG was down and LS decided to rush the CC.
at 9:15 CC was down. It paid.
Commander couldn't relocate or beacon; no money.
Round 4
LS@Docking / Saunamen@Pipeline Carapace hive.
Same strategy left right + enzyme and RT pressure.
They did lost a second hive, 2 fades at the same time. Even with enzime they couldn't do it.
Comments:
Jambi: big map mean more Rts for both team apparently.
Most of what made the difference was on the Alien round for Saunamen
LS did played their Alien round only with Celerity.
Saunamen did the brute force Left-Right Alien strategy:
Using an alien ball (3~4 units) on one objective, Carapace, and a drifter to Enzime. Going from attacking base then RTs to drain little by little the Res income. Making sure the marines use it on rebuild instead of spending it on upgrades.
In other words they accept to take punched for a while (open turtle posture) and progress inch by inch. We often see in this kind of game a crag and a whip close to a harvester. Not the smartest thing. All this is still rely on brute force. Someone commented on twitch "Counter-strike meets Starcraft". I was like : "f**ck he"s right".
This makes me think marine are a little OP.
-Because alien tends to do that "rock solid" carapace, harassing stuff just to buy some time.
-With Shift... not gonna do it.
-Shade was not on the menu tonight either.
Noticeable facts:
-Many marines did a 2 skulk shot in a raw during these games.
-Even on a sure win; 2 Onie have difficulties doing it. One was down on round 4 on last rush.
-Sometimes fades are just paper.
I'm glad that when it happened to me, it was at the end of round 2 (only a min missed I believe) and was able to get round 3 on my secondary channel and back to my main channel (started working again) for round 4. Will post them soon
I'd like to note as well that it IS Friday the 13th that just pwned my stream... lol
i know that we ns2 know-all's prefer to watch from 'birds-eye' perspective, but it irks me a bit that random people tuning into the stream might find it a bit confusing/chaotic and understand/respect the competitiveness more if it was shot in first-person perspective.
Yes very true. 1 guy was looking awhile and asked "is this a Moba?"
You and me both, man. All I managed to see was: "Thank you for watching, this is Red Dog, signing off... sorry, wrong button, bye!" And that was it!
For real!
However, despite the technical stuff, it was a successful stream. We brought in a lot of people that never saw NS2 before and were really impressed!
Stats pulled from my Twitch:
Unique Viewers (10:30am-12:30pm): 64,420
Max Concurrent Viewers (pre-error): 3,614
Max Concurrent Viewers (post-error): 2,496
Hopefully some of those people picked up the game!

Summer Cup Finals was 108K. I think this one would have been close or beat it if that Twitch glitch didn't happen. Ah well.
Also, videos are uploaded. I will post them here once they are ready.
Cheers!
As a side note my buddy, who knows little to none about NS2, appreciated the commentator explanations on various aspects of play. Keep up the good work!
does that count anyone that accesses the twitch home page though?
i guess it spreads awareness, but i'm not sure how many of those 64k actually paid any notice :P
I was trying to get my friend watch some streams earlier, but he was like 'From this perspective, I don't get what is going on'.
(map, aliens, marines, commanders, resources, tech point)
+1 to the idea of a 30 second video before the game explaining the basics, there were a lot of people asking in chat for a summary.
Also, cheers RedDog for a top cast.
I chatted with some Twitch staff on clarification on those stats. Unique Visitors are anyone that came to the actual channel from the front page. If they loaded my video on the front page by just clicking my channel banner (this would load the video on the front page, not go to my channel), that would just count as a view, not a visit. So, throughout the event, 64k people actually clicked through all the way to the channel and watched. Now, some stayed a long time, some stayed a few minutes, but they still were exposed to NS2 and not just a "passerby" as they made the decision to check it out.
That is SUCH a good idea! I will get on that for the next big front page event!
