i doubt it mate. I see this as the foundations to a long term support program for UWE's NS develpment.
If they work it right they can continue to generate revenue by selling skins and other useless amenities, and as long as this improves performance and player base im all for it :].
They set the bar at a ridiculous 550k and they said they were shocked to get it to 100k so fast. They are well aware that 550k will take a year(s).
But lets not forget that they are still selling copies of ns2 which doesnt contribute to the fund and if they had any real long lasting business plan, that money would have already gone into making a brand new game months ago.

It seems they're averaging around $2,000 a day. If they're able to keep up that minimum over the coming months, it will take roughly 7 1\2 months to make it to $550,000. Essentially by next April. I imagine there will be an uptick around the x-mas season as well to help shorten that timeline. Seems fairly realistic to me.
It would make the most sense (from a business perspective) to work on NS2 part time, and start putting more time into a new game on the spark engine to diversify their assets. Assuming NS2 is gradually selling less as time goes on like most games do.

I wouldn't count on a flat average model. Chances are donors will taper off here pretty quick. If they have sales models around the sale of the game, they could try and track against that to figure out if they will ever reach there goal. Honestly though I felt like the goal was less about making the money back and more about showing the cost (read:value) of the content they are providing for Free to the users. The reinforcements program itself feels like less of a dependable revenue stream and more of a response to those of us who have asked for a way to support the company Post Purchase.
As for working on NS2 "Part Time" I would imagine they are way ahead of you, considering there is a "Secret Twitter" account they are granting access to through the Reinforcements program. I would assume that is a new project (Game, Software, International Arms Trading, or whatever)

Cheers for the replies guys. I had anticipated they'd leave it open as all financial support is good, but since a decision must be made sooner or later with regards continued NS2 development I don't want to miss the opportunity to pitch in.

Just do what I did, and throw a little bit each month. I'm sure once I get to 75$ and I get intouch with them they will bump my tier up.
They did something awesome for me but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to talk about it yet.

I would advise against that.
From the Reinforcment Program purchase page:
"You cannot upgrade to a higher tier after you buy one, without buying the new tier in full. We cannot refund the old tier."
I doubt they'd put a deadline on it as its an additional source of funding that they need to sort out things like loans, utilities, salaries, advertising etc.
I asked UWE on twitter whether they were using Spark as the engine for their next game. They said 'Probably yes' in reply.
This answers quite a few questions in my mind. Fundamentally though, they can keep upgrading Spark and use NS2 as a good base for testing new features that they want to use in their next game.
Not sure if that is how they'll work it, but you might see NS2 continue to improve in performance but lack the additional content moving forward.
Reinforcement page shows 2,303 Contributors and $128,268 constantly. It was about $148k today but then dropped to this number after several page reloads and stuck there. Is it just me? Cleared the browser cache, nothing changed.

And a deadline would be not in UWE interested, reinforcement is free money for them

Yeah, the link doesn't load for me anymore as well, so I'm taking it out of my post.

As has been mentioned in another thread; this is actually all the game needs henceforth.
