Got that message just now, maybe it's unreleased memory or something.
Sending report DOESN'T WORK, it looks like sending, but then get stuck!
###### - number of bytes, differs from time to time.
I have the same problem as you also same error message. I crash when loading the game I tried all the training options, I tried to play on a regular server, I have no mods activated.
I ran the game on Directx9 and 11. And of course the optimization suggested in the main menu also makes me crash at the loading.
After the update, I constantly throw out to the desktop with a window to send the error report. But after the update for today, I started to throw out to the desktop, because the game does not respond.

If NS2 crashes, do not close any windows, even if its a black screen or error.
Navigate to your NS2 install folder and run techsupport.exe while the crashed NS2 window is still open. This will make a potentially large dump file (inside the zip that techsupport.exe makes, there will be a folder called "minidump") that you can then upload to somewhere online (like Drop box) and provide a link to it in here or to a dev. This dump file is the fastest, most accurate method to catch a crash!
If you don't have a "minidump" folder in that zip file you just made.. it did not capture the crash. If you cannot capture it after multiple tries please let me know. (we have just recently received reports of not being able to capture the dump)
Thanks!

I decided to reinstall the game because I was not able to capture the dump. My problem is somewhat related to Op's issue.
I guess it might not solve my main problem, but if I can capture the dump with techsupp it will be easier for you to help me.
good evening ! Same problem here, it crashes at random, sometimes after an hour, sometimes after a quarter, no need to say this is horrible when you're in commander !
You'll get a DxDiag and log file in the attachment.
Nb : I installed NS from scratch yesterday, it already was crashing before that. I also changed Graphic card today (from HD6870 to HD7970), still the same outcome.
Got this problem too. Seems build 255 made the crashing even worse. Before I could last at least one round before crashing and now I typically can't last more than 10 minutes.
In Fullscreen Windowed instead of Fullscreen, still crashes but just "stops working" instead of the allocating error I expected. Could not get tech support, it froze computer while it was crashing.

Those who are receiving this crash, are you running exclusively in DX9 fullscreen mode and without alt tabbing? (and not fullscreen windowed)
Need to rule out some possibilities.
DX11 alt tabbing will result in issues as its still in beta.
@pattydaplayer i'd look into why your dxdiag does not display anything under "display devices" even though you have a video card... could be a driver issue. @jhon117x i see you are using DX11. it is in beta, so try using dx9 in your graphics options.
*edit: from the devs: lowering texture quality may help prevent this crash in the meantime, as well as possibly enabling "Texture streaming" in the options. (they are looking into it as i type this)

UPDATE From the devs:
"It would help to get a sample of what number of bytes people fail with."
So please report that number that shows up, with the amount of bytes that failed to allocate. This can be found either visibly looking at the error, or found in your log.txt thats in your techsupport zip.
Thanks everyone
It's pretty late over here (12:30 AM), since it can take up to an hour to get a crash, I'll have to do that as soon as I come back tomorrow (about 8PM GMT+1)
Until then, thanks for the fast responses
Tried it out everything low or off and texture streaming on. Same crash. For reference i have been playing since release and i dont remember one crash untill the reinforcment patch, then every 15-30 mins crash. Unhappy camper

Those console errors with memory leaks will not affect the game, and have been occurring for months now.
But the one that says "ns2 failed to allocate" is the actual memory leak. (hard to explain the difference)
Keep posting info about that first one
Thanks again
Error: NS2 failed to allocate 204800 bytes and will now terminate
This is the only line i have seen in my log file after a crash refering to the game terminating, all the other errors have been call stacks, failed to loads and couldnt lock texture and the memory leaks.
I have the same problems (crashing after 2-20 minutes to the desktop), sometimes no error message, sometimes a failing bug report window or the "NS2 failed to allocate XXXXXXXX to memory something". I have sent these reports by email as well, but just to be complete I added them to this post as well. The problem is worse than in 254, now it's about 5 minutes or less before the game crashes instead of about 15 minutes.
I just got the fatal error crash upon being kicked from a reserved slot server. It was on NS2_Jambi. i Got the scoreboard up, which disappeared as i was being kicked, after the 'returning to main menu' sound effect played, i crashed immediately to desktop.
When this type of crash has happened befor, it has always been after a bit of gameplay, this time it was while my computer was handling being kicked immediately after joining. I was crashing regularily after changing map, so im in the habbit of quitting and restarting NS2 to join a new server. I turned texture streaming ON (the crash was happening with it off). Video settings are minimal.
I never crashed on this machine befor the reinforcement patch. (not including alpha / beta)
Edit : This time i was able to send the crash report with out ns2 / windows hanging upon pressing 'Send'
53882236 Bytes were not allocated and ns2 terminated
Windows Vista 32bit SP2
4gigs ram (windows only registers 2)
XFXblack nvidia 260 graphics card
Core2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33ghz
Edit : Onboard motherboard (EVGA) sound (Realtek)
A UWE east server changed maps off of biodome (i had only been in the ready room all round <just joined>)
i left the room and came back to the fatal error message.
Crashing with the same "Failed to allocate 24187448 bytes" message. Running XP SP3 with 4Gb RAM. My settings are so low my computer slipped down into the basement.
PS I sent in about 10 crash reports (log.txt) file via the automated report system but sometime around when 254 came out, or a bit after, that hangs now too.

I ran the game on Directx9 and 11. And of course the optimization suggested in the main menu also makes me crash at the loading.
Last time I posted on this forum was also about crashes on 254:

So... Do I have to reinstall the game again?
edit: My tech_support.zip didn't upload for some reason...

Strange running dxdiag manually gives me my display device info and so do my older tech_support zips.
"It would help to get a sample of what number of bytes people fail with."
So please report that number that shows up, with the amount of bytes that failed to allocate. This can be found either visibly looking at the error, or found in your log.txt thats in your techsupport zip.

TY both. Can you both try running with low textures and Texture Streaming enabled?

@lorfcaster was unclear whether you had that setting on , from a fresh start, before it crashed or not?
