DirectX 11.2 is Windows 8.1 exclusive, much like 11.1 is Windows 8 exclusive (by the way, 8.1 update is free and mandatory for Windows 8 owners as it will be phased out and discontinued in 2 years time per service pack lifecycle, although Windows Server 2012 will remain supported as 2012 R2 is a paid upgrade) and therefore does not run under Windows Vista or Windows 7, the OS's that the very largest majority of DirectX 11 compliant computers run.
From what I saw on the MSDN documentation it does contain a few useful and efficient functionalities, but given the very limited usefulness for this game, the target audience and even smaller capable hardware range, I don't think UWE has the resources to waste on it.
Yes i know that Dx11.2 is windows 8.1 exclusive but seeing as their game engine supports Dx11 would be nice to see Dx11.2 as sure there might not be a huge fan base on Windows 8.1 wouldn't it be good to get a jump on it if possible for those who are.
@james888
the features of Dx11.2 that I want would be Tiled resources. It would be beneficial to many people as it helps with gpus not having alot of memory it will load some of the textures into the main ram and swap out allows the game to run better and the ability to to possibly run at higher settings.
Sorry guys, i've experienced some problems in real life, broke up with my gf and all so, well the game doesn't use much video memory (~2 GB maxed out, which the majority of video cards have), and you can make do with a 512 MB graphics card if you moderate your settings a bit.
Sure it'd be nice, but I don't think it'd be a major priority for now, even more so with framebuffer sizes ever growing (my Titan comes with 6 GB stock, it's the future today basically) and with the consoles making constant use of this and other texture storage enhancements + having ~5 GB of usable space by software. Maybe if UWE releases a Xbox One version of Natural Selection 2, I recall it being planned for 360? (what a mess that'd be)
