Why not make this awesome mod classic game mode?
I would but i am technically handicapped.

Rules:
-Combat is the basis
-Longer maps then co. maps preferable (more walking, normals NSmaps seem a good option)
-only gorges and oni can pick up the flag on aliens and then move slower then normal.
-Marines cant jet pack when carrying a flag and move slower, same as aliens.
-hive and cc are unkillable
-15 min game time, after 7.30 the teams switch race. Boom! Balance fixed!

    Hmm an asymmetrical CTF mode, but how would we deal with the Melee vs Ranged and speed difference between Aliens and Marines? I guess the map designs could work in favor of the home team to some extent...

    I guess aliens are better in getting to the flag, marines are better in getting a flag back to base?

    Erm, unless it was marines vs marines, my guess would be that tons of work would have to be done to get it right.


    Meaning what you wrote down is highly insufficient.

    I like the idea of a CTF game mode. I also thought about making it, but I stopped because I couldn't find a good solution regarding the balance between both teams.

    Could allso make it like they do in the now defunc halo eSports games, where both teams have a flag.

    I think it's doable. But I think we need to be careful about the map design. It's important not to make the map symmetrical imo.

    I never considered CTF for NS2, but there is definitely something there.

    Even if it was Alien vs Alien with gorge-only flag-carrier it would be interesting.

    But asymmetric-ly, I feel it would need to be something like ARCs/MACs can carry the flag for marines (adds even more to the asymmetry); this would make the welding mechanic an important while interesting point to do to support the carrier. A bit like "push the cart" in TF2 [payload]; but against aliens D: omg another concept lol :$.

    I think we rename it capture the Gorge and marines have to hold the Gorge hostage until Aliens rescue the chubby.
