I'm not in a mood to search for a similar thread to post in. I don't like posting in forums and consider the format unfriendly to the average newcomer to orientate themselves to.
I like the new features for the most part. I'm uncertain if the fade's ability to faze structures and marines has been removed in favor of the teleport mechanic as I haven't tested that far into the new build. Fade although was never a class I could get used to so it matters little at the moment.
I can say for certain now that the grenades made available to the marines are very nice and probably fun but are so completely a separate weapon in the time it takes to switch to them and back to the weapon in hand that it makes them unrealistic. It would appeal to use them more if they could be tossed more easily while still holding your gun, pistol or 3rd. You only receive two per purchase and the time it takes to switch to them and back to a gun is unreasonable and requires that the marine plan their toss in advance of combat instead of possibly throwing it in a instance where it is desperately needed.
Grenades as I suggested or as they are I can accept. But the most disappointing change to the game is the graphical upgrades. The current and completely changed alien vision makes combat with marines laggy and tracking less possible. With alien vision off the frame lag persists but at least has more in common with the previous builds. But the benefits are split with objects and marines best seen while alien vision is off and alien vision being the easiest to see the surrounding room terrain but being almost completely offensive to the eye.
Any other graphical upgrades just stack on top of the offensive changes to aliens. While I can't spot what has changed about the graphics in this build I can see how my frames are reacting to these changes as I bump into walls, objects and corners in an attempt to wall jump or boost my speed. Once in the air as a lerk movement is just as uncertain. Attempts to hit a target with the lerk or gorge projectile seems pointless in larger firefights. At one time and in previous builds I might have tried to go toe to toe with an exo push with a lerk. The same attempt now leaves me at the mercy of anyone with a better system.
Untill some dialing back of features or new options for turning off whatever new flash has been added is added I can not play the game enjoyably. Considering that when I purchased this game I bought four units to share with friends and I'm the only person to receive one of those four copies who still plays the game I am supremely disappointed. Winning or losing, hackers or pros, steam roll or drawn out win/lose I love this game and I can't stomach having paid for something that I can't enjoy anymore because it's been made a little prettier. I'll be stepping away from the game for a month in hopes something changes. If the game continues to play like crud I will extend my downtime further till I quit the game altogether. I'm not against improvements, but if those improvements reduce access to those of limited means then our dollars would be best invested in other places.
