Okay so under Linux yesterday I played fine but since the newest patch and steam update it won't load, terminal gives me this:

liam@liam-ubuntu:~$ '/home/liam/Steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Natural Selection 2/ns2_linux32'
GetInstanceCount currently unimplemented
Build 254
Ubuntu 13.04 x86_64
/home/liam/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Natural Selection 2/system/awesomium/awesomium_process: error while loading shared libraries: libawesomium-1-7.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

please run the linux client either via steam or via the run.sh script in ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime

You will have, as they say, good times.

I am running Steam, it doesn't run anymore which is why I am running it via terminal, steam is running in the background.

Also i forgot to cd to the directory, i don't get the lib error but now this:
    liam@liam-ubuntu:~/Steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Natural Selection 2$ '/home/liam/Steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Natural Selection 2/ns2_linux32'
    GetInstanceCount currently unimplemented
    Build 254
    Ubuntu 13.04 x86_64

    And nothing happens.

Have you tried verifying Steam cache files for NS2?

You can ignore this topic, it seems it must have bee a steam update that messed with it, closing and re-opening steam 3 times and it now launches, hooray!

@liamdawe, the game relies on having the steam environment loaded. You really cannot just run it from the terminal directly. I am not telling this to you to make you life worse.

You can run the game from the steam client which is recommended. You can also run it using the steam run script in ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime as follows:
    $ ./run.sh ../../SteamApps/common/Natural\ Selection\ 2/ns2_linux32

It is probably better to stick to steam for this one.
