Yeah but its hard to look away from the action, find the name in the list, click it and then press space. I think people don't bother because you're at risk of missing other stuff.
As it was late when I finally had time to watch the final, I got terribly tired from the technical difficulties and long matches that felt way different from older big events with Arkaea where we saw a lot more action and big pushes. I think I need to watch this final again do determine if this feeling is valid. The atmosphere from the insomnia gather was also rather layback and uninspiring. Nothing compared to the studiomatches from germany we had earlier. Hopefully we reached some new players, but the overall experience from me in front of my screen was much less enthusiastic.
The Biodome reveal was a good counter to this keeping some interest and hype up. It looks nice and I can´t wait to see what the community does with the new resources. I had hoped for a forrest themed big room in the middle of a map where you could sneak as a skulk behind trees in the dark, getting that creepy forrest feeling. But maybe it will show up eventually
The casting was great but I think some more first-person view would have helped show off the game.
NS2 really doesn't look as special from topdown, but on full detail it looks fantastic in first person view.
Requires way more bitrate on their end due to the fast twitch aiming, and their setup for bitrate was simply too low
I don't watch it for this reason, i have taken a look at these events but find the view to be quite boring and i think the average player would feel similar, a good mix of top, fp, tp and free spec would be cool but all we pretty much get is a few name tags seen from above moving around on dull looking maps (no offence but most are from above), i did watch one where i saw some good team work and that was interesting but without the close up action mixed in for fights it gets very boring visually.
The event was fun to be part of especially the awesome barbecue (sry Bonkers couldnt bring wine, and its forbidden in the cabin:>) and quizz in the hotel kitchen (the msi girls too) GG to everyone involved and big props and thanks to the donators.
Wished we didn't have technical difficulties so 2 maps would have been possible, but shit happens!
Lastly ggs to the Saunamen you guys are awesome!
It was a good thing that RedDogs stream was the one that got the attention anyway, the first hour of the Multiplay stream was a mess as things were getting set up and troubleshooted.
I'm pretty sure he's highlighting a completely different online tournament got a lot more start up views/viewers and not the grand finals with arguably 2 much better teams.
Probably maybe might have something to do with RedDog raffles for the last 2 months straight that have that price is right jingle in my head, and virsoul doing G4P on stream recently as well as broadcasting a total 1,402,247 hours public NS2 commanding and not raging once.
Was a good finals either way, the decision making on LS is merciless, aside from not completing a pg one time in XR it looked like LS capitalised on every single misplay or mistake that saunamen made. Herakles on SG is terrifying. So weird watching marines who can aim play the game vs public play every other night.

You have uncovered my master plan! *shakes fists*
In all seriousness, it was great all around. Due to the unforseen delays at i49, yes, there was an overlap in stream coverage (which definitely was not planned). I did warn the teams when they scheduled it that the EO finals were going on but they thought it would be over or close to over by the time we started.
However, on the bright side - this meant that NS2 was featured twice on Twitch's front page between both matches; which is a win for all! The exposure was fantastic.
Just to give you some stats; over the entire course of Virsoul and I's cast - we exposed NS2 to over 100,000 unique visitors:
Add that to what the i49 event pulled in, and it was some great limelight for NS2 that day!

Grats to Snails for winning and kudos to all the casters for putting in a phenomenal effort.
That said, considering the actual live final stream only had about 800 concurrent viewers when the game finally started, whereas previous events peaked at around 6500, this can't be described as anything other than a fiasco. I'm sure the 2000+ concurrent viewers watching a completely unrelated match between two lower division teams enjoyed themselves, though...
