Natural Selection 2 Installation problem

So 2 days ago i traded Chivalry Medieval Warfare for Natural Selection 2 and i installed it fine and everything worked great. Played 10 hours of the game and loved it. So i found a server that seemed cool and yesterday i decided to try and go on it. An error message popped up saying something about me not having the same game cache files as the server, i can't remember the exact message. I decided to try joining different servers but the result was exactly the same. So i closed the game and verified integrity of game cache files and it said that i was missing 2 game files but they were reacquired. I figured that meant my problem was fixed but i still couldn't connect to servers. I tried restarting the game but this time, the game wouldn't open and it was stuck on an update that would not finish so i decided to attempt a reinstall of the game and the initial download screen appears, "Creating local game cache files..." and then a screen appears saying

'Steam - Error'
'An error occurred while installing Natural Selection 2 (unknown error)'
'See the Steam Support site for more information'

I've tried various things, completely deleting NS2 off my computer and it doesn't seem to work at all, every deletion, every restart and it doesn't want to install. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

My apologies.. i've just realized this is purely a Steam problem.. as it seems, i can't install any games, all contain the same unknown error message. If anybody does know how to solve this that'd be great but this isn't the forum for a steam problem so i apologize.

Is there no error id ? Could you add a techreport. Try to verify your game cache files. It sounds dumb but try to start steam with rightclick "Run as Administrator".
