Bad FPS Q6600 GTX760

Hello
My GTX460 just died, so I got a GTX760. I could not believe it but my fps seems the same.
I have running a Q6600 overclock to 3.1.
I play with everything turned off and I only get about 20-30 frames in combat 6+ people on the screen.
Any one know why this game hates my computer?

its that Q6600. This game is CPU dependent / hungry more than any game i know.

Top of the line CPUs today are 4x your CPU's performance, and then "good" CPUs of today are ~ 3x it's performance.
Passmark benchmarks show it being just barely above the minimum requirements for this game (which are inadequately low, imo) which is an Intel core 2 duo 2.6

    Granted, you have overclocked it.

Best way to tell if you are CPU or GPU bottlenecked is to type r_stats 1 in the console (~ key)
If X ms waiting on GPU , shows anything more than 0-2 ms, you are GPU bound.
But.. something tells me since you didn't see any improvement of FPS with a better card.. that the GPU was never your bottleneck to begin with.

Here's the bad news: your CPU is OC'd pretty much as far as it's going to go without getting into extreme cooling solutions, and its 5 years old...
Here's the good news: You should be getting better than 20 fps in combat, even with this older cpu. Try your best to follow these instructions and capture some screenshots for me (f12) of the worst performing frames and i'll see if i can find your culprit!

    Your cpu isn't good enough.

Best cpu for the money at the moment is the amd FX 6300. Intel hasswell 4000 series is basically overclocked 3000 series with a few new (useless for us) features. The Intel CPU I would recommend for NS2 is the i5 3470 non k.

If you got the cash get the i5 3570k or haswell equivalent. I should stress though, that the 6300 will give you an enjoyable(I.E. You will enjoy yourself) NS2 experience.

NS2 should be sponsored by Intel and AMD after all the CPU upgrades that have come out of it. :D
