Reading alot about the Player number drop of NS2 i just want to suggest to create a official mentor program. So advanced players can sign this program to help new players to get used to the game. For new people we need a menu option so they can autoadd one of the free mentors (maybe even from the same country) at steam and join to their server if there is a free slot. So basically this discussion is to hear what you are thinking about this idea and to collect other suggestion.

BTW. Sorry for my bad english.

From what you wrote I couldn't deduct if you know of this initiative: http://forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/129288/community-service-enlistment-natural-selection-2-mentorship-program-ns2mentor/p1

It incorporates the basic idea but no in-game implementation.

Somewhere on these forums I read a post about mentoring and how it could be implemented. There was that brilliant idea to allow a trainee and a dedicated mentor to spectate each others games exlusively and also have a separate voice channel to communicate. It would be really awesome if the mentor and the trainee could swap their spectator/player position at any time, too. But that is probably very hard to code.

There is a semi-official mentor system in place at the above thread. Although I do agree I think a system like this would get more use if built into the game menu.

I already known the group but i don't think any rookie will find them, so i've ask to get something like that ingame. Because there arent much ppl watching the tut vids. So after every sale i feel like repeating myself 100 times at my favorite server explaining things to new players. So it would be great if there would be kind of a mentor chat only seen by rookies.Would improve the games alot if every rookie has one direct person to ask questions.

I suggested some time ago a coach system where veterans would join a team as a coach and indirectly help the team with hints, tips and directions instead of directly by playing the game. Maybe that to go along with the mentor system would help?

I would suggest that the mentor goes commanding so he has the time to talk and dont get bored meanwhile. Teaching should be fun. My suggestion only is to get a system so rookies can easily find mentors willing to teach them. Mabe also add a ingame bagde for mentors so they can easily be found at the front and give them a different colour at the map.

That could work too, but what if he wanted to teach someone how to command?

I know it could get boring, but that's something the mentor should be willing to do. Teaching is not necessarily fun, unless you make it fun.
