A Good Commander Is Everything...

A good commander is everything...
I recently just finished a game where the marines (my team) was getting creamed. About 30 mins into the game, aliens had all 3 hives, and we had nothing, so I started bitching to the commander, so he said to me: "if u think u can do better than me at comm, get in." So I did. By this time, our base was under heavy attack from onos and fades. I grabed a small group of marines and sent them to the least protected hive, and took it out and buit a new base. The base was eventually lost and they eventually won, but this just goes to show that a good commander is everything.

Yeah I think most people know that. Whenever I command ( I'm a decent comm but I only play if no ones goes ) I only do it from the beginning of the game. I find it pretty useless to try to win once the main commander left the console. It's usually when the aliens have the upper hand, and I just dont feel confortable playing a game someone started before me, his own way. I prefer to command from the beginning until the end, so if we lose its all my fault.

I'm really good at taking over... as long as it's not TOO late in the game. (like they're just building the third hive) Too much adjustment time, then.

a good commander isn't really everything.. a good commander is nothing without good marines really.
caus on one server i played the commander was good wich i noticed in the second game becaus at the first game the marines just ran around doing their own stuff so we lost since we didn't got a good start becaus of that..
but in the second game we had the same comm, but there was some new marines wich was better becaused they followed orders etc..., so we won

not really, as long as the marines follow the orders, then the marines can win

a good commander is only as good as his marines....and marines...are only as good as thier commander. Yes it's a catch 22. Yes I have pointed this out before...and it is very true. If you are ever curious, wander the forums...look at the posts. Then play some games. The rule of thumb though is if the alien team is decent...and the marines had a poor commander...it is a 50/50 case to come back from behind...depending...if the aliens already have 2 hives when the commander switchs. If the aliens have three...it's doubtful.

No matter how good a commander you might be...you have to have good...if not very good marines if you want to do anything, especially come from behind.
