What is happened to Fade movement?

I'm now watching a stream of ADHD,
It's true that he's a really good player, besides his fade is moving unbelievably fast(it was no shadow step), which i've never seen.
Is it due to new movement patch?

I find it a bit ridiculous, because just jumping around(i assume that it's A and D jump) far faster than blink.

What's happened in fact?

It's as fast as NS1 blink and drains no stamina. I find it a bit overpowered on first impression.

He blinks and then bunnyhops to maintain momentum, really easy and much more useful than SS + jump

It has nothing to do with A/D. Blink makes you go fast, chaining jumps afterwards(hold down the space bar after each jump) will preserve that speed for no additional energy. This is the replacement for the old shadowstep trick.

It has everything to do with A/D. Stop spreading lies in every thread. A/D strafing as a Fade while bunnyhopping greatly increases your speed.

EDIT: Greatly in comparison to skulk... It's almost unnoticeable with skulk. Which is a bummer. Makes learning it pretty mystifying.

I'll have to go try this - I was able to maintain very high speed by simply blink for a second then jumping just as I hit the ground. Steering was made easy with just looking around using the mouse. Shadowstep now seems utterly useless aside from the occasional confusing escape tactic but it seems to consume about as much energy as blinking for that same distance, and it slows you down after while blink does not.

That last part is partially correct. Using shadowstep in mid-air retains your previous speed. I agree that shadowstep is a bit underwhelming due to its similar (if not slightly higher) cost to blink. It's still slightly more unpredictable than blink (due to its almost-teleporting nature) and moves you further within a short time span. This adds some variety to combat, but a slightly lower energy cost would justify more usage (as well as its tres upgrade cost).
