Those Funny Fades

Does anyone else notice that Fades always attack, then they run around the corner and wait for there health to fill up? Once they run around the corner, run over there and start shooting, it catches them off gaurd and you can easily kill them. Anyone else ever try this? I do it all the time and I never notice anyone else do it.

There's a Fade thread around here somewhere that talks about this if you'd like to poke your head in.

I always try this, and Chronos you bring up a great point. Fades are funny, as you've mentioned it. But they are really good at killing marines. You know..We can form a plan or a group to kill those **obscenity** aliens. I mean I prefer fades over anything. And we can easily die if we like run around the corner, as you said. So we must find a trick to get around it.

This does work in some cases. But a lot of fades have taking to working in pairs, or worse, working in pairs with a lerk escort. If you burst around a corner and start shooting, chaces are that two fades will take you down unless you've got HA. So I don't think its a silver bullet or anything, but a lot of times it is worth a shot.

It's possible, but you've got to be careful. Fades also retreat to catch their breath after using too many bilebombs, and if they see you pop around the corner when they *aren't* hurt too badly, it's can-openers for you. The best way to avoid being stabbed is to work in pairs, and don't be afraid to chase with your pistol. Don't let them get out of sight, and they won't have a chance to jump you.

I always find it funny when a marine runs right into my face even when I've gone back to heal. HAs have a small chance but lights always die.

On the other hand, if you're a weakened fade and a marine starts charging you, keep your cool and remember your "blink training". Seriously more and more marines are catching on to the charge tactic. When I'm a fade low on health, I don't even wait to see if anyone will come after me before blinking to safety.

Yeah, especially take note of specific blinkable escape routes when you are trading fire in hotspots in different maps. If you can just blink far down a hall, preferably right up to some mixed offence and defence chambers, a rushing marine won't catch you as hard. It can be difficult to get the hang of putting your faith in blink, as you have to turn around and whatnot, but I tend to mark different areas where it works well (for example, the hallway between the holoroom and reception in hera) and find it can help, especially against grenade spam.

    Blink, blink, blink.
    Aim high, blink long distances.

And yes, you got to chase those fades. When I'm a fade, I die fairly quick if I just stand there (or move around). I always have to back off and let my Regeneration kick in. We're not that imbeatable. Unlike the Lerk who can only take 2 LMG bullets ;P

As a marine, I ALWAYS chase the aliens. Even the Onos. If an Onos is running, you KNOW he's low on health. And you could be the one hero taking down an Onos all by yourself.

Also, at the most rediculous moments when I use Scent of Fear, the marines spam "medpack".
    - sigh - Do they ever learn?
