Ns2 does not like me overclocking my gpu. Is that just me?

This is really a why is it so and is anyone else experiencing this thread instead of a cry for help. I have a 2500k and a amd 7970. It is watercooled with great temps etc. I can overclock my 7970 to 1250mhz at 1230mv and it is stable in all games I have tried except ns2. I usually don't run at those clocks because they are completely unnecessary, but I state them anyways as what I can acheive in other games. In ns2 I can go no higher than 1050mhz no matter the voltage. Anything higher and the driver crashes. There is a solution. Don't run those clocks. So without further ado, why does ns2 not like my gpu overclock and if any one else is experiencing this.
