Can't play offline

So, I've been offline for about a week and going to live without intrewebs for few more days. Here's my complaint: you can't start local server/explore mode if you are offline, it says authentication failed and brings you back to menu. Would be cool if UWE allowed us to practice stuff when you are not connected to intrenets.

I shared mobile connection from my phone just to start the server, but uh, 246 started downloading. Had to disconnect asap, can't afford downloading patches over mobile network
Even if there is a solution for this problem, I won't be able to try it. WIll be glad to hear if there is one, tho.

i agree, sometimes when im unable to connect to the internet i would like a quick game wher ei can just practice movement as fade, lerk.

As a 4g tether phone person here's the trick:
Connect to the internet while you have NS2 open.. that way it wont download a patch because you are playing.. but will do it's authentication business.

Too late, "Update required" in steam library and it won't let me launch NS until it's patched
