Just saying, something might be wrong with your install or your windows install is getting unstable due to age. Or you could have hardware issues, hopefully not of course!. But something like memory corruption, a failing HDD or an unstable overclock could cause it. NS2 is quite resource hungry and having issues with your PC could potentially cause it to crash more often... Heck PC's are weird creatures, it could even be your PSU starting to fail, causing some odd issues due to unstable voltages.
If NS2 crashes, do not close any windows, even if its a black screen or error. Navigate to your NS2 install folder and run techsupport.exe. This will make a large dump file that you can then upload to somewhere online (like Drop box) and provide a link to it in here or to a dev. This dump file is the fastest, most accurate method to catch a crash!
