Crashes started again on my side since the last build and they continue in the recent build. I am not asking for a smooth running game anymore, but crashes should be history. I never crashed until the game came near release. -30 builds before release and all I get since is one stable version that never crashes that gets replaced with the next 20 builds that ctd in the most undesired situations and so on. There is a pattern :P

More info needed... I mean, I could post something similar and it would be the complete opposite. For me, NS2 has crashed around 9 times in total. This is from back in alpha up to this point, stretching across 2 rigs (Core2Duo E6420 @ 3.4Ghz heavy overclock and i5 2500k @ 4.2Ghz).
Just saying, something might be wrong with your install or your windows install is getting unstable due to age. Or you could have hardware issues, hopefully not of course!. But something like memory corruption, a failing HDD or an unstable overclock could cause it. NS2 is quite resource hungry and having issues with your PC could potentially cause it to crash more often... Heck PC's are weird creatures, it could even be your PSU starting to fail, causing some odd issues due to unstable voltages.

Until more info is provided, I presume all crashes occur due to:

Moved to tech support.
If NS2 crashes, do not close any windows, even if its a black screen or error. Navigate to your NS2 install folder and run techsupport.exe. This will make a large dump file that you can then upload to somewhere online (like Drop box) and provide a link to it in here or to a dev. This dump file is the fastest, most accurate method to catch a crash!
