Nickname length

Hello!

A humble request from the clan [karvalakki] to extend the amount of letters allowed for nicknames. We've had the tag [karvalakki] since almost ten years back and now NS2 won't let us. It might seem ridiculous but we really like our tag. Right our people need to cut their nicknames in half or cut the clantag in half. So we play with the tag [klakki] for now but that doesn't sound nearly as threatening and vicious as the real deal. Also finnish words tend to be long so letter shortage is discriminating ;)

And no, this is not a troll. I mean I figure it shouldn't be too hard to have just a few more letters allowed for nicknames? :)
pleeez?

Sorry, the Spark Engine isn't capable of such advanced retooling of the alpha-numerical limit. Any more letters and the game would crash and your computer would explode.
Maybe in 5 or 10 years, the technology with catch up to the innovation.

I want spaces, 'cause Morning Wood got truncated to Morning when I tried it.

@squishpoke you can use name "anything you want with spaces" as long as you add quotes.

Does this mean that I can also use /n for new lines?

You used to be able to use \n to put your name on multiple lines. It gets filtered out now since people abused it.

So that's why I often run out of letters for single sentences in chat as well?

    Precisely!
Every decent programmer knows that the one thing that absolutely eats up tons of ram, cpu power and gpu power in a game is text. Even web browsers and wordpad-like programs are not as simple as they seem and require vast amounts of computing power.
This is why Bill Gates became so rich and successful. Because he was the first person ever to come up with the technological ability to type write on a computer. Otherwise known as Microsoft Word.

Actually Steve Jobs hired him to do that because he couldn't come up for it himself when inventing the Mac OS.

Was that before or after Steve Jobs invented the fruit, apples? Through genetic manipulation.

Oh, so that was after Bill Gates eliminated all mosquitos with malaria from the planet.

May be this derives only from my lack of understanding or from my fearless german heritage, but neither of both frightens my the least. Sorry....

There. Now karvalakki will never ever sound threatening or vicious again, and you're free to pick a new name. :p

What the hell guys? I've seen threads go off-topic, but you guys all take the prize. It's not a good thing though. Stop this mess.

I think your request is clear. I don't think there's any reasonable reason to extend name length, as it only opens up more possibilities to spam/abuse the nickname, but the thread is here for the devs and all to read - who knows? They might agree with you. As there's no real discussion going on:
