Didn't somebody talk about a tower defense mod on this forum before?
It would probably be easy to do make a map and mod for this.
The AI for the marines doesn't have to be smart to make a tower defense game. This is the primary reason why I think this is very doable, now.
Enemies would include Marines, ARCS, MACs, EXOs(dual and railgun), Jetpacks.
Set the AI to walk to the Hive after spawning.
Have them attack the Hive once they reach it.
Have some enemies attack players and structures.
Have some enemies walk without attacking.
Give gorges the ability to build whips, hydras, spurs, shells, veils and clogs.
Put in a kill-based economy.
Each kill gives P-Res and T-Res.
Khammander mode is also available.
Khammander can research, Bile Bomb, Celerity, Carapace, Regeneration, Silence, Camoflauge, Adrenaline.
Limit clogs to 2 per gorge. This will force gorges to work together to build strong defenses.
Khammander can drop up to 2 Hives. Each Hive increases the maximum number of clogs by 2.
Khammander can also research Lerk Spikes. Lerk Spikes are now a Gorge Ability, binded to the 4th weapon slot.
Have bile bomb slow down marines movement speed by a reasonable, balanced amount.
Gorges can also evolve into skulks, but will have to pay 10 P-Res to evolve back into gorge.
Gorges cannot evolve into Fades, Lerks or Onos.
AND THEN BLAM
You got yourself a gorge defense game.
